Action For Migration Organisation was founded in 2020 by Mr.Akida Modeste, whose personal journey of displacement and resettlement became the cornerstone of our mission. Having faced the challenges and uncertainties of fleeing conflict and seeking refuge, Mr.Akida recognized the profound need for structured support and compassionate guidance for refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants. This experience fueled a passion for creating an organization dedicated to helping others navigate the often daunting process of resettlement.
In the early years, Action For Migration Organisation focused primarily on providing emergency assistance and basic necessities to refugees and asylum seekers in Democratic Republic of Congo. With limited resources but an unwavering commitment, our small team worked tirelessly to offer shelter, food, and legal assistance to those in dire need. The impact was immediate, and the demand for our services grew rapidly as word spread within the community
Recognizing the growing needs of displaced individuals across the region, we expanded our operations beyond DRC to include Kenya, Kinshasa, Congo Brazzaville, Burundi, Mozambique, Uganda, Libya, Sudan, and South Sudan. This expansion was driven by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who shared our founder’s vision of providing comprehensive resettlement services. During this period, we also introduced fee-based resettlement services to immigrants, allowing us to diversify our funding sources and sustain our charitable activities.
Our work has positively impacted thousands of lives, providing hope and a fresh start for many who have faced unimaginable hardships. We have been recognized by various local and international bodies for our dedication and effectiveness in supporting displaced individuals.
